Frequently asked Questions

Welcome!

If you’re a local, you’ve probably passed the end of our street many times – and you are always very welcome to visit us on a Sunday morning. Our Family Church meets at 9:30am at 11 Ridge Street, Merrylands West.
You might have some questions:

How long does church go for?

Usually under an hour. There’s morning tea afterwards if you’d like to stay.

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out?

No. We promise you won’t be put on the spot.

What should I wear?

Casual wear is fine. There’s no need to dress up for church.

What about my kids?

Babies, children and teenagers are very welcome to stay in church.

If you wish, you can take babies and young children into the creche where you can still feel very much a part of church. After the introductory section of the service, during school term, there is Sunday School available for children from 3 years old to the end of Primary School.

What kind of church are you?

As a Bible-based Anglican Church we seek to understand God’s message to us in his word, the Bible.
We value the best of the traditions of the Anglican Church, and seek to use them in a style of service which is friendly and not too formal.

I haven’t been to church in ages. Will I be welcome?

Sure!

Protection of Children

At St. Matthew’s we believe that it is vital to protect the vulnerable – especially children. All those who work with children have completed the NSW Government’s ‘Working with Children Check’. As well, our Sunday School teachers, Scripture teachers and others have had additional training on child protection.
